Spending seven of my twelve school years in the paper mill town of Canton, NC, the mountains of WNC took root in my blood, despite the ever-present "aroma" from the mill. Since then, I've done the "learn through mistakes" young adult thing, the "learn through mistakes" parenting thing (four adult children — all special), and the "learn from career advancement thing", where I learned that I hate suits, neckties, and meetings that are a waste of time. At age 13, I knew why the WNC mountains were special when I moved away with my family. 50+ years later, I help others understand why this area is special by helping them identify their lifestyle needs and wants, and aligning them with the town or area with the best fit.
Though I don't miss the suits or ties, my corporate executive experience helps me help my clients as their realtor. The main difference between negotiating a huge business contract versus the sale of a house is that things are more personal with the latter — it's hard to eliminate emotions from the equation. There is no such thing as a stress-free real estate transaction. My job is to facilitate the process and keep stress to a minimum.
I've lived in 8 states, 3 of them twice, including major metro areas (Atlanta, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Baltimore/Washington), smaller metro areas (Montgomery, Little Rock), and four small towns where everyone seems to know each other. With these moves, I have owned and sold homes in multiple states. I anticipate issues and avoid problems within a real estate transaction because I've experienced them first-hand as a buyer or seller long before I gained a real estate license.
"Competency, trust, and relationship" are my core values. My life history has made me adaptable to developing solid relationships with clients from every walk of life.
